FRHSD Completes School-based Town Hall Meetings

The Freehold Regional High School District announces completion of its strategic planning school-based town hall meetings. Throughout the month of January, strategic planning school-based town hall meetings were held at each school to present the strategic plan draft to the staff and student bodies.

During the meetings, students and staff had an opportunity to provide personal perspective and feedback regarding the drafted mission, objectives and strategies. “Going out to all of the schools in this kind of format has been really rewarding and great to take the work of the entire steering committee to the larger group,” shared Administrative Supervisor for Curriculum and Instruction/Strategic Planning Internal Coordinator, Jeff Moore.

Attendees openly expressed their appreciation for having the opportunity to participate in the strategic planning process. There was a collective sense of gratitude as they shared their sentiments about having their thoughts and opinions influence what will become the roadmap for FRHSD schools. “I have found being involved in this process to be very refreshing. As one who has been in the district over 30 years, it’s nice to be asked for my input regarding the direction of the district, and my hope is that these meetings have inspired students and teachers to sign-up for the action planning teams,” shared Assistant Principal, Debra Kozar after attending the Colts Neck High School town hall.

The next phase of the strategic planning process is set to begin February 27, 2012 pending the Board of Education’s approval of the new mission. Preliminary steps in the action planning phase will involve recruitment, selection and training of action team members. Selected team members will work together to develop action plans to implement each of the 8 strategies that are currently a part of the strategic plan draft. The steering committee is charged with reviewing, editing and accepting the action plans.

The public is encouraged to visit the FRHSD strategic planning website at where they can share their thoughts and reflections or provide other feedback regarding the drafted mission, goals and strategies. They can also sign up to offer their expertise as a member and/or consultant to an action planning team. The steering committee reports nearly 700 community members who have been involved in the strategic planning process to date. Additional public engagement activities are being planned to increase opportunities for community involvement.
